Onboard announces its expansion into the Adriatic Sea through a new partnership with Ocean Team, a leading harbour towage operator in the region.

Ocean Team will deploy the Onboard Platform to support towage operations in the Port of Trieste and across the northern Adriatic, with an initial focus on:

  • Streamlining ship-to-shore communication
  • Improving insight into tug operations and fuel performance

Harbour towage is a precision-driven operation where timing, coordination, and visibility are everything. By adopting the Onboard Platform, Ocean Team establishes a single digital foundation for structured communication, real-time operational insight, and data-driven decision-making, improving asset utilisation and operational performance.

Alessandro Lubrano Lavadera of Ocean Team comments:

“We have a clear vision for how digital solutions should support our harbour towage operations. The Onboard platform aligns strongly with that vision by integrating ship-to-shore communication and delivering unique operational insights. This partnership comes at exactly the right time.”

Sander Zwanenburg, CCO of Onboard, adds:

“From the outset, there was strong alignment between Ocean Team’s ambitions and the capabilities of our platform. This partnership marks another important step in supporting maritime operators in their digital transformation.”

The Adriatic region is a key European trade corridor, connecting Central and Eastern Europe to global shipping routes. Establishing a presence in Trieste further strengthens Onboard’s footprint in strategically important ports.

As ports face increasing pressure to improve efficiency, coordination, and sustainability, digital platforms are becoming essential operational infrastructure.

Onboard’s journey in the Adriatic has just begun.
