We are looking for a self-starting full stack/DevOps engineer to build and deploy solutions that will help the maritime industry become more efficient and accelerate towards a low-carbon future.

This is a high impact role in an organization where you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the organization and the solutions we are building, and work on solving big problems, free of cumbersome processes of larger organizations. You will work closely with the founders to build tools and technology to help the industry transition.

On ships today there is an incredible amount of data from different machines and the crew, about equipment performance, what is happening on the vessel, unexpected changes to plans, tasks being performed, and many more.

For most of the maritime industry, this data is siloed and unstructured, meaning that it cannot be accessed effectively. However, maritime technology startup Onboard makes accessing this data possible. The Onboard Platform is the only solution in the industry that collects data 24/7 from every machine and human on a vessel, and makes it available in real time, to anyone on or off shore.

While the core platform is already being used, there are countless new possibilities to extend its reach and build innovations on top of it. This is where you come in - iterating on existing apps, coming up with and building your own solutions, and innovating with partners and clients.

About you

This role will suit someone who likes working fast and creatively with the latest edge and cloud technologies and lots of room to learn, improvise and think outside the box. Maybe you have worked in a big organization but want to have fewer meetings and take more ownership over what you build. Or maybe you are a freelancer or working in a small team, but looking to build solutions that will have a genuinely big impact in creating a smarter, more efficient world.

We are located in Rotterdam the maritime capital of Europe, but you don't need to be! Split your time between the office and your home as you see fit.

Edge computing, event sourcing, microservices, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Timescale, GraphQL, Web Components, Java, Node.js, TypeScript.
